Then bookmark this exciting news: a huge welcome to the Turn the Page Mobile Bookshop, the area’s first and only mobile bookshop, which was launched by Stephanie Schemenauer. She had seen similar offerings across the country and knew this was the right fit for our communities.
The Turn the Page’s Grand Opening was in April, and book lovers have been overjoyed with the roadready access to books, magnets, and other fun gift items ever since.
Although based in Crescent City, the Turn the Page Facebook page notes the on-the-go bookshop also serves Gasquet, Hiouchi, Smith River, Orick, Crescent City, Klamath, and Brookings.
On a serious note, the launch of a mobile bookshop in a more rural area, such as Del Norte County, goes far in making books and reading easy and accessible for people. For the elderly and disabled, access to books through this mobile retail boutique can open doors to enrichment and reading that may have been much more difficult previously. And finally, going to a mobile bookshop event at your favorite coffee shop or community activity is sure to make a wonderful experience even better.
The pop-up book shop has quickly become a part of the community, offering support to non-profit causes such as the recent Crescent City’s Luau for Life American Cancer Society Relay event, the local Heroes and Helpers Day event honoring emergency, safety, police, fire, and first responder heroes, and more.
