This weekend marked the very first Summer Send Off at the Del Norte County Fairgrounds — and if the turnout was any indication, it’s a tradition that’s going to stick.
Under bright skies and the easy energy of a late-summer weekend, 25 local vendors gathered for a lively marketplace hosted by PNW Finds, the auction and liquidation business known for bringing unique treasures to Del Norte County.
At the heart of it all was organizer Alexis Karanopoulous, whose vision made the day possible.
Her goal wasn’t just to create a fun end-of-summer celebration — it was to spark a community effort to support local classrooms.
Attendees were asked to donate school supplies for Del Norte teachers, helping ensure students start the year with what they need. The event ran Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., offering plenty of time for families, shoppers, and curious visitors to wander through vendor booths, discover handmade goods, and enjoy the friendly, upbeat atmosphere.
From seasoned sellers to first‑time entrepreneurs, the Summer Send Off gave local vendors a chance to practice their craft, build confidence, and share their creatons with the entire community.
Alexis shared that she hopes this is just the beginning. She’s already considering a Halloween-themed event later this year — a sign that she’s committed to bringing more opportunities, more creativity, and more community connection to Del Norte County.
Judging by the smiles, conversations, and steady flow of visitors, the Summer Send Off was clearly well supported by locals.
