A Glimpse of the Last Days

By Donna DeWolf

The Word of God gives us a good glimpse into what people will behave like in the last days. By last days I mean the time that Bible talks about being in place before the catching away of the church.

The bible tells us that as believers we should know the seasons, and we should be able to understand the seasons and times we live in. As we spend time with the Lord, as we read His Word; we can start to recognize the season we are living in. 2 Timothy chapter 3 gives us clear picture of the kind of people we will see in the season of the last days. Verses 1-5 says (1) This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. (2) For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy. (3) Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, (4) Traitors, heady high-minded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; (5) having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof; from such turn away.

I am sure there have always been people who fit this description through out history. But can you honestly tell me that you have not noticed the change in how people behave? This personality trait seems to be very prevalent in today‛s world. We have an increase in self-centered behavior.

As I wrote in my article last week, people were so full of their own wants, desires, time lines, that they could not care less about the welfare of a 2-year-old on the side of the road throwing up. All they cared about what getting to their destination. As one lady tried to help, she was shown aggression by other drivers in the line people.

Without the living God living inside of us, there is no way for us to have compassion on our fellow citizens because we are full of our own wants, our own needs. We really are living in a time when people are lovers of their own selves, many people have no compassion for others, many despise those who try to do good. The Bible tells us that during perilous times they will come out. Those who despise those who are trying to do good. Thos who feel that helping others is a week trait.

I urge you to read 2 Timothy chapter 3. There is a lot in that chapter for us to fully understand and come to gripes with. My prayer for you this week is that you would spend time with the Lord and ask Him to reveal to you that condition of your own hard. We do not want to be the people God warns to stay away from.
