The Father’s Love Found in a Whisper

By Daphne Cortese- Lambert, Director of Homeless Services Del Norte Mission Possible

God’s deeper truths are often hidden like treasure for those who seek them (Matt. 13:44). Romans 8 offers foundational insights to a life empowered by the Holy Spirit. I encourage you to set aside time with the Holy Spirit and ask Him to reveal the powerful truths within this chapter. This week, I want to focus on what it means to be fathered by God.

“And you did not receive the spirit of religious duty, leading you back into the fear of never being good enough. But you have received the Spirit of full acceptance, enfolding you into the family of God” (Rom. 8:15a)—full acceptance and family! No wonder the enemy seeks to distort our understanding of family; if he succeeds, we may never fully grasp who we are in Christ. We all long to be accepted and to belong. Though people are flawed and religious wounds run deep, God is Love.

“And you will never feel orphaned, for He rises up within us, our spirits join Him in saying the words of tender affection, “Beloved Father!” (Rom. 8:15b). When is the last time you thought deeply about what this means or cried out in recognition of God as your Father? Romans 8:16 says, “For the Holy Spirit makes God’s fatherhood real to us…” We cannot comprehend the magnitude and concept on our own. “As He whispers into our innermost being, “You are God’s

Beloved Child!” We must listen intently to hear-especially in our noisy world.

As I meditated on these truths, I felt an impression of Jesus taking me by the Hand as we approached the Throne. I felt an overcoming emotion of unworthiness, but Jesus urged me on. I heard in a whisper, “Beloved come forward. I love you and I have been waiting. You are enough just as you are. I see you as beautiful, delightful and worthy. I have fought for you in ways that are beyond your comprehension. All for this moment. You have heard of Me, but I want you to know Me. To know the depth of the Love and acceptance that only My Spirit can convey for it flows into the depths of your being. I love everything about you, and I have good plans for you and supernatural advice that will turn your struggles into eternal victories and joy unspeakable no matter what you face. For now, accept My embrace and be loved-really loved!”
