Local Gallery Showcases Talent and Opportunities
Located at 140 Marine Way, the Harbor Art Gallery continues to be a cornerstone of Crescent City’s growing arts community, offering residents and visitors a place to explore creativity, culture, and local expression.
This month, the gallery spotlights Artist of the Month, Jed Hawkins, whose bold abstract expressionist works evoke the dynamic energy and emotion reminiscent of Jackson Pollock’s iconic style. Hawkins’ collection captures movement and intensity, inviting viewers to experience the freedom of color and form that defines this influential art genre.
In addition to its rotating exhibits, the Harbor Art Gallery continues to support artistic education through a variety of classes. On October 25, Deborah Dawson will lead two watercolor workshops designed for artists of all levels.
- The Beginning Watercolor Class runs from 10am-Noon, at a cost of $35.
- An Advanced Beginning to Intermediate Watercolor Class follows from 1-4 p.m., offering an extended three-hour session for $40.
Patrons seeking ongoing practice, the gallery hosts a Life Drawing Group every Monday, free of charge. Participants are encouraged to bring their own supplies and enjoy a relaxed environment where creativity and community come together.
With its engaging exhibitions, affordable classes, and welcoming atmosphere, the Harbor Art Gallery serves as a vibrant hub for Del Norte County’s artistic spirit and culture.
