GASQUET, Calif. — Drivers traveling along U.S. 199 between Hiouchi and Gasquet should expect delays on Thursday as crews continue investigation work following a crash involving a Frito-Lay delivery truck.
Police said the crash occurred on Wednesday when the truck landed face up on the bank of the Smith River. Authorities reported the driver suffered only minor injuries.
All lanes were reopened as of 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, but intermittent closures with delays of up to 20 minutes were expected throughout Thursday between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. for investigation. Caltrans said crews would also be performing emergency tree work in the area.
Drivers were urged to plan extra travel time and exercise caution through the work zone.
