Highway 199 paving at Hiouchi

Caltrans is alerting Hiouchi residents of nighttime paving work along Highway 199.

"While this work has already been in progress, we would like Hiouchi residents to be aware the job will move into town on Monday night," according to a release from Caltrans Public Information Officer Myles Cochrane. "One-way traffic control will be in effect in the area from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. for three nights."

Cochrane said motorists should anticipate 20-minute delays and residents should anticipate project noise.

"We realize the delays and noise will be an inconvenience but the end result will be worthwhile," Cochrane said.

Hiouchi is 14 miles northeast of Crescent City.
