Happy Birthday, America

The Crescent City/ Del Norte Chamber of Commerce honored America’s 250th Birthday in front of an estimated 12,000 Parade watchers, July 4th .

120 plus vehicles, floats, walkers, bands, equestrian units and other entries, swimming in a sea of smiles and joy. 

Executive Director Cindy Vosburg, Parade-onlookers welcomed the United States Guard flyover celebrating the Coast Guard’s 235th birthday.

Emceeing this year’s Parade was Rene’  Shanle-Hutzell and Mike Garza of Bi-Coastal Media, with judges Mike Lane, Paul Magarino, Jay Tuc Steinruck and photographer Gloria Bobertz.

 

Sienna Wier sang the National Anthem

 Blake Inscore  was the Grand Marshall.

After the Parade, thousands poured into Beachfront Park for a myriad of activities including the cow chip contest.

And precisely at 10PM, the always-breathtaking Fireworks show, sponsored by the Lucky 7 Casino, thrilled the crowd in a true Del Norte love-fest.

• Best Non-Profit- Sutter  Coast Hospital

• Best Government- Crescent City Fire and Rescue

• Best WOW factor- Elk Valley Casino

• Best in Show- Tolowa Dee-ni Nation

Sheriff Garrett Scott reported no major Fireworks incidents took place along South Beach, a sharp contrast to last year’s near tragedy. As a side note, little Baby B, now 5, has made a near a complete recovery from the fireworks explosion, last year.
