Former Crescent City man dies in car accident

Former Crescent City resident Takota Beck-Murphy, son of Timbre Beck of Hayfork, California, and John Murphy of Crescent City, was killed Tuesday afternoon when his car veered off the road, down an embankment and struck a tree south of Sacramento, where he worked as a welder.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation, but authorities said they’ve ruled out drugs, alcohol, or cell phone use as factors contributing to the crash.

An obituary and memorial services are pending.

Beck-Murphy was 20 years old, a former student at Foursquare Church School in Crescent City, and a 2017 graduate of Hayfork High School.
