College of the Redwoods has new pharmacy tech program

Beginning in the spring of 2020, College of the Redwoods Workforce and Community Education has announced it will offer an expanded pharmacy technician program.

The new pharmacy tech program will consist of 140 classroom hours and includes a 120-hour externship, during which students will work at a local pharmacy to hone their skills.

Additionally, said school officials, the program prepares students to sit for the National Healthcareer Association and Pharmacy Technician Certification Board exams. 

The program instructor will be Kyle Bigham, a local pharmacist. 

Classes will be held Saturdays from 9 a.m.-4:30 p.m. at 525 D St. in Eureka, beginning Feb, 8.
