50 plus members of the Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter Day Saints gathered at the Battery Point Lighthouse parking lot, last Saturday morning to conduct its 6th annual Del Norte Service Day over Labor Day week-end with volunteers picking up litter along Battery Point Lighthouse, Howe Drive and the Play Drive, and along the beach areas. The annual event was organized by Danny and Amanda Fry and family and attorney Keith Morris and missionaries serving Del Norte County.
Though the poundage was not officially reported by Del Norte Solid Waste, between eight and 12 black bags were filled.
City staff retrieved the bags of trash and Del Norte Solid Waste accepted without charge, all the litter.
Thank you LDS community and City Staff for keeping our community beautiful.
