No school district meal service Monday; childcare survey goes online

The Del Norte Unified School District announced there will be no meal service Monday, March 23, due to a previously scheduled professional development day.

Children and youth ages 18 and younger will be provided two sets of meals during the Friday bus route meal service and the school site curbside meal service. The Friday meals will include:

— Friday lunch

— Monday breakfast

— Monday lunch

— Tuesday breakfast

All modified bus routes and school site curbside meal service will resume on March 24.

There will be a limited number of meals available, first come, first serve, from 11 a.m. to noon Monday at the district office at 301 W. Washington Blvd.

An executive order by Governor Gavin Newsom requires school districts during the COVID-19 social distancing shutdowns to attempt to alleviate the child care crisis for medical staff, first responders, essential county and city employees, and the homeless population that have students in the school district.
