Homicide case set for readiness hearing, Dec. 2

John B. Swinger will appear for a readiness conference at the Crescent City Courthouse on Dec. 2 regarding a possible upcoming trial.  

Swinger was arrested on suspicion of homicide Oct. 26 after Louis C. Martin was found dead at a residence on Cummins Road in Crescent City.  

Swinger appeared for his first court date Nov. 1. He is being held in the Del Norte County Jail.  

The readiness hearing Dec. 2 will determine if both parties are ready to proceed with a trial by jury. Swinger’s attorney reportedly has waived a bail-review hearing.
