Volunteers sought for dune restoration this Sunday, June 19
The Redwood Parks Conservancy invites the public to join the Tolowa Dunes Stewards for beach grass removal and dunes habitat restoration Sunday, from noon to 4 p.m. in the Tolowa Dunes State Park.
Pulling European beach grass is a moderate activity. Participants should wear sturdy shoes for walking in sand and dress in layers. Bring a hat, water and personal snacks. Gloves, light shovels and snacks will be provided.
Meet at the Lake Earl Wildlife Area Information Center at 2591 Old Mill Road in Crescent City. There will be a one-mile hike from the trailhead to the Big Dune through pine forests and coastal meadows.
Volunteers will be socially distancing as they work, so don’t forget a mask for when within 10 feet of each other.
To volunteer, contact Sandra Jerabek at (707) 954-5253 or [email protected].
