Travel Advisory: Southbound I-5 and Highway 299 open

Southbound I-5 and Highway 299 between Highway 101 and Redding are open and no chains are required, according to Lupita Franco, a Caltrans District 2 public information officer, as of 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday Nov. 27.

Northbound I-5 will have a definitive opening later this afternoon.

However, Franco reminds people traveling those roads to bring blankets, food and water in case they get stranded.
