Volunteers needed to battle invasive weeds in March

The Tolowa Dunes Stewards, Redwood Parks Conservancy and other sponsors invite volunteers to help remove Scotch broom and other invasive weeds in March.

Scotch broom will be bashed from noon to 4 p.m. Sundays, March 8

and March 22. One of these two Sundays may be canceled if no one responds or it rains too hard. Meet before noon at the end of Old Mill Road, north of Crescent City, at the Info Center at 2591 Old Mill Rd.

The Seventh Annual Broom Bash for the Butterflies is from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, March 28. An English ivy removal is from noon to 4 p.m., Sunday, March 29.

Dress for the weather and bring water and personal snacks. The Tolowa Dunes Stewards provide equipment, gloves and generous snacks.
