James Edward Pratt, "Papa Ed," was one of the funniest people you could ever meet. He had a remarkable gift for turning almost any situation into laughter. If you knew Ed, you knew someone who could brighten your day with his wit, infectious laugh, and warm smile. Ed was a self-taught man in every sense of the word. Through hard work, he built a simple life for himself and those he loved. Whether he was building, fishing, crabbing, or crafting, he took pride in providing for his three boys, Justin, Ryan, and Tyler.

Nothing brought Ed more joy than being with his boys. He cherished all of his grandchildren—Justin, Hannah, Ryan, Tyler, and Eric—and loved spending time with them. His generosity, humor, and kindness left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him. To us, Papa Ed will always be remembered as a man who laughed often and always found a way through life's challenges. We are especially grateful for the love and care he showed our family throughout the years. His devotion to our mother during her battle with tuberculosis and breast cancer was truly heroic. He was a father figure to the boys, and his unwavering love for Shannon, Shane, and Krista helped shape their lives in lasting and meaningful ways. Life is rarely simple, but through it all, Ed's presence was a gift. We are deeply thankful for the time we shared with him and for the love he gave so freely. Thank you, Papa Ed, for being the man you were and for all the ways you cared for our family. Your laughter, strength, and love will remain with us always.
