Honoring Emergency Nurses During Emergency Nurses Week
As we recognize Emergency Nurses Week (October 11-17), I would like to express my sincere appreciation for the emergency nurses who care for our community each day.
A visit to the emergency department is rarely planned. It often comes during a time of illness, injury, fear, uncertainty, or crisis. Healthcare experiences are deeply personal, and the emergency department can be a challenging environment for both patients and caregivers. Yet through these circumstances, emergency nurses remain committed to providing safe, compassionate, and professional care to every person who seeks help.
Emergency nurses are often the first healthcare professionals patients encounter during some of life's most difficult moments. They assess, prioritize, and coordinate care for a wide range of medical, behavioral health, and traumatic emergencies while supporting patients and families through stressful situations. Their work requires clinical expertise, critical thinking, adaptability, and compassion.
Behind every shift are nurses who work nights, weekends, holidays, and during community emergencies to ensure care is available whenever it is needed. They serve people from all walks of life and strive to deliver the best care possible under often complex and demanding circumstances.
During Emergency Nurses Week, I encourage our community to take a moment to recognize and thank these dedicated professionals. Whether responding to a life-threatening emergency, comforting a worried family member, or helping a patient navigate an unexpected health concern, emergency nurses make a meaningful difference every day.
To the emergency nurses serving our community: thank you for your skill, dedication, resilience, and compassion. Your commitment to caring for others does not go unnoticed, and we are grateful for all that you do.
Sincerely,
