My better half, German born, Dr Gigi Reed, MD, has built a storied career as a patent-holding DNA scientist, professor and physician. English is her third language, after German and French, but she has mastered it so well that few people realize she was born and raised in Germany’s Black Forest. Read-All-About-Reed, in this very newspaper each week with her own medical column, “Off-The-Charts.” Now you know!
At the Paragon Coffee Shop, over a cup of coffee with Doc Bilardi, the season announced itself without so much as a press pass! Folks walked a tad faster and most were wearing sweaters. Have you really noticed? It’s that pink elephant time of year. The calendar, that relentless little taskmaster, is already nudging us along—past Halloween’s pumpkins and toward Thanksgiving tables, Christmas lights, and the great annual scramble to be ready for New Years! My advice? Take each day as it comes. Enjoy the coffee while it is hot, the conversation while it lasts, and the small miracle of being here for another turn of the seasons. One of my very favorite quotes is; “old age is a privilege denied to many.” So enjoy your days, be nice to all and don’t sweat the details. Amen!
Many of you know that I am the steward of three incredibly cute and smart eastern box turtles. Kush, Kosmos and Kleaver always attract lots of interest when I take them for a walk on the beach. Sometimes I keep them on a leash, (which amounts to a string taped to their carapace). Most of the time they are free to.explore any of our areas many beaches. Over the past 20 years, they have entertained thousands of humans who are flummoxed when they first spy such adorable terrapins wandering the beach beneath their feet. Out comes their phone cameras and I can only dream how wealthy I would be if only I had a dollar for every picture taken!

Dr. Gigi and I are celebrating three years of producing our popular syndicated live broadcast, “The Doc & Jacques Show.” On each week’s live broadcast, we interview local folks who “excel at what they do best!” If you are a local mover and shaker—please let us know!
